Discovery of 100 million tons oil field in Bohai Sea of China
Date:2021-10-09
On September 30th, China National Offshore Oil Corporation announced that another large oil field, Kenli 10-2 field, was discovered in the Bohai Sea of China. After the review and filing by the Ministry of natural resources, the new proved geological oil reserves exceeded 100 million tons.
Kenli 10-2 oilfield is in the southern Bohai Sea, about 245km away from Tianjin, with an average water depth of about 15.7m. The discovery well Kenli 10-2-4 encountered a total of 27m oil layers, and the completed drilling well’s depth is 1520m. After testing, the daily crude oil production of a single well in the oilfield can reach 81.55 tons.
The successful discovery of Kenli 10-2 oilfield breaks the situation that the shallow depression zone of Bohai oilfield has never been found in 100 million ton lithologic oilfield, showing the broad prospect of lithologic reservoir exploration in Bohai Sea, and has important guiding significance for the exploration of similar basins.
