China-Africa Development Cooperation Conference Convened

The 70th anniversary of China-Africa Development Cooperation Conference themed “to chart to new course of China-Africa Friendship” was convened in Addis Ababa. The discussion focused on previous achievements and mechanisms for promoting and strengthening future cooperation. Liu Yuxi, Chinese Ambassador to the African Union said at the conference that China and Africa have enjoyed sustained friendship and cooperation over the last 70 years and multilateral cooperation in areas of investment, trade, and numerous development programs has continued to grow. The Belt and Road Initiative signed with 44 African countries will be implemented in accordance with the ground conditions in each country, which has promising future. He also stated that over 880 projects will be implemented in the next three years. It is reported that the volume of trade between China and Africa has grown to 20 million USD. China-Africa Research Cooperation Center Director, Seyoum Mesfin introduced the historical outline of China-Africa cooperation and noted that China has already made rapid progress in economic, political, technological and diplomatic areas. China-Africa cooperation, which started back in 2000 with a trade volume of 5 billion USD, has now grown to more than 60 billion USD.
